Fox Valley Technical College Chilton is always changing to meet the needs of our customers, the students, and the community.
In keeping with this motto, we have added several new teachers to our staff along with new classes. These include (but are not limited to): Candy Roberts, she teaches Oil Roughing; Trisha Propson, she teaches kick boxing; and most recently, Karen Juckem, she teaches quilting for both beginners and those a little more advanced in the craft.
FVTC Chilton is working to establish what the community would like to see. “We want to help support our students in every way possible,” explains Lori Popp, manager at the Chilton site. “We are looking to add additional exercise classes, offer more Emergency Medical Service courses such as EMT Basic and First Aid. Our goal is to reach out and establish offerings to the surrounding communities to better serve their needs.”
In addition to Popp, who has been with the college for 35 years, the Chilton staff includes administrative assistants Jeanette Adkins, who has been here six years; Tammy Pethan, who has been here five years; and Ashley Lisch, who has been here since June 2014. Each one is cross-trained in every aspect for the center’s daily operations. Each team member is also assigned special projects such as billings, advertising, purchasing, class sections, and more. “There are no two days the same,” adds Ashley Lisch. “We are always doing something different, whether it be answering the phone, questions, assisting students with enrollment or account issues, or proctoring tests. It makes the days go fast.”
Our Adult Basic Education and Quest instructor is Renee Voskuil, who has been with the Chilton Regional Center for 28 years. In the ABE/Quest lab students are given study materials to complete courses or prepare for the GED Test. After completion, a General Education Diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma is earned. Many of the students are able to walk with their high school class the day of graduation. Renee takes great pride in seeing her students achieve this final step.
The Chilton Center also has a testing center in which we administer Accuplacer Tests, Proctors Tests for other colleges, proctor class tests, and Pearson Vue GED Testing. Testing hours vary on a daily basis, so we ask that you call ahead to schedule your test. Every effort is made to accommodate the students’ schedules.
As part of community outreach, we also offer room rentals to many of the businesses in Chilton and the surrounding area. Weekly Manpower uses the center for job recruiting and Workforce Development has offices hours to assist their clients. Local manufactures and other businesses use our facility for seminars, meetings, conferences, and/or training purposes.
Enhancing education is the main focus at FVTC Chilton. We offer numerous general education classes for those working towards a degree or for those who just choose to be course takers to better themselves. The Medical Assistant Program, Management Development and Business Management Program are three of the full programs that can be completed in Chilton. The Nursing Assistant Certificate is offered about four times per year in Chilton. Our “oldies, but goodies” classes include Muscle Agility, Yoga, Water Exercise, Crafts, Computer, CPR, Cooking, Woodworking, and Farm Classes. This summer we offered Conceal and Carry, Home Alone Babysitting Class and Farm Safety Class (tractor safety). We will be running these

classes again in Fall.
Our new addition is slated to be done near the end of July. This area will house our Nursing Assistance and Medical Assistant classes. The entire interior of the existing building is going to be repainted and carpeted. The reception area is going to be revamped to allow for three work stations. Watch for our open house in fall.
