Always in need of additional help, anyone wishing to volunteer with the store should contact Kopack. “Even a few hours a week would be helpful,” she said. “Anything they can do is a help.” Volunteer responsibilities at St. Vincent de Paul range from sorting and organizing to marking items for sale or being a cashier.”
Donations can be dropped off 24 hours a day at the drop-off shed, which is located at the back of the store. Store staff will provide pick-up services if requested for larger items. The building located next to the store is also owned by St. Vincent de Paul and is where most of the furniture is located. “We have a large variety of furniture,” Kopack said. “We do not accept TVs or electronics and anything dropped off needs to be resalable.”
Although the store is part of the Kaukauna district of St. Vincent de Paul stores, which includes Kiel, New Holstein, Hilbert and Kaukauna, each store is independently run. “We are our own entity, and are incorporated as the Hilbert store,” Kopack said. St. Vincent de Paul is open Mondays
from 6 to 8 p. m., Tuesdays from 1 to 5
p. m., Wednesdays from 9 a. m. to 8 p. m., Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a. m. to 5
p. m., and Saturdays from 9 a. m. to noon. The store is located at 463 S. 8th St. (STH 32/57) in Hilbert and staff can be reached at (920) 853-3449.
“We are here to help,” Kopack said. “Our motto is to help people in need. It is rewarding seeing that you’re helping people and making a difference.”
