Miller Implement in St. Nazianz was originally established in 1899 as a farm implement dealer selling McCormick Deering farm equipment and hardware.
Bobcat Compact Equipment was added to the sales line in the late 1960s and continues to be one of the cornerstone brands sold at Miller Implement.
Jim Schott purchased Miller Implement in January 2008 and continues the tradition of offering customers unequalled customer service and quality Bobcat Compact Equipment.
In the past year Miller Implement also took on the Mahindra tractor line, a company which is based in India but which has three manufacturing plants in the U. S. With Mahindra tractors ranging in size from 22 hp to 105 hp, everyone from farmers to homeowners to municipalities have been Miller Implement’s customers for Mahindra tractors, according to Sales Specialist Gary Aschenbrenner. The tractors also allow for a full range of quick-change attachments, turning them into loaders, mowers, backhoes, snow removal equipment, and more. Some of the Mahindra tractors even come with heat/air conditioning in the cabs and multiple shifting capabilities for ease of use among different operators.
Mahindra joins a long, long list of other name brand equipment available for purchase or rent at Miller Implement. Another relatively new addition at the business is Roto Grind, which makes machines which grind corn, hay and other crops for easier-to-digest mixed rations by livestock. “That’s been a very active product,” Aschenbrenner said.
Bobcat offers everything from skid-steer loaders and compact excavators to utility vehicles and more. With attachments including angle brooms, augers, buckets, landscape rakes, pallet forks, snowblowers, tillers, trenchers and more, Bobcat has the equipment to do the job. “Bobcat is the number-one selling skid-steer in the world,” Aschenbrenner pointed out. “Bobcat is an excellent company to work with. They have very good warranties on their products.”
Continuing the list of product suppliers to Miller Implement are B-B Trailers, EBY aluminum trailers, Gravely mowers and log splitters, Scag mowers, Land Pride compact tractor attachments, and Wacker Neuson construction products including vibratory plates, generators, trowels, cut-off saws, and much more. The business also can supply Wallenstein wood chippers and log splitters, Echo Bearcat Chainsaws and logging equipment, as well as many, many other shortline equipment.
No matter how good the quality of all those manufacturers, the end user works their equipment hard and sometimes things break or wear out. “Our service department is second to none,” Aschenbrenner said. Under the guidance of Service Manager Erik Kohlman, Miller Implement has four full-time technicians and a full-time service department assistant. Those employees are kept busy because of the very large service area which Miller Implement has tackled. Miller Implement services equipment in Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Brown, Kewaunee, Door, and Ozaukee counties, as well as parts of Washington County. Two vans are available to do service work on the road. “The guys are out on the road a lot,” Aschenbrenner said.
The large trade area, expanded product lines, and the fact Miller Implement continues to service large tractors are among the reasons for a planned expansion of the shop area. “There’s a very good possibility” of that happening this year, Aschenbrenner said, adding that the expansion would occur to the north and behind the current service shop.
That bit of good news of progress is indicative of these busy times at Miller Implement, located at 500 E. Main St. (CTH C) in the Manitowoc County village. Regular sales specials on equipment sold by Miller Implement—such as special financing and trade in specials offered throughout the year—also help to keep the business busy.
