Few parcels remain

A few parcels remain available for development through the City of Kiel.

Approximately eight lots remain available for R-2 development in the Rockville Subdivision. On Belitz Drive, the city still has a handful of lots for commercial development.

East of Cemetery Road, the city is also holding onto industrial park property that can easily be altered to accommodate the needs of an industry that may wish to locate its operations in Kiel.

Support for other projects

Kiel’s most recent use of the tax incremental tool helped the community land the new Shopko Hometown retail store on the city’s northeast side.

City officials worked with other jurisdictions to create TID #4, and provided Shopko with a means of acquiring the land, along with funding to help finance the development. Shopko, in return, had to step up to the plate by generating the new store and the resulting tax revenue over a guaranteed 15-year period.
