Anokijig offers camp experience

Located just southeast of Elkhart Lake, nestled in beautiful Kettle Moraine forest surrounding three-fourths of Little Elkhart Lake, Camp Anokijig has been recognized for excellence in camping for over 86 years.

“Camp Anokijig is dedicated to developing youth and enveloping families in a healthy, natural environment that promotes character building and personal growth,” said Jim Scherer, executive director. “And we’re located in a perfect setting for our core programs of youth summer camp, outdoor education, family programs, group retreats, teen leadership development, adventure challenges and team building.”

Summer camp is a place to make new friends and experience great adventures. Boys and girls ages 7 to 16 can enjoy fun activities like horseback riding, archery, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, pellet gun range, woodworking, arts and crafts, dance, drama, music, and much more.

Specialty camp options are available with emphasis on horseback riding, fishing, yoga, comedy, African drums, theatre in the woods, competitive swimming, or an adventure challenge.

Campers grade seven and up can customize their camp experience with day trips including whitewater rafting, paintball, caving, or thrills at Noah’s Ark water park, a go-kart sports park or on a high ropes course. Also available for grade seven and up are week-long adventure trips to incredible locations such as Sylvania backcountry canoe fishing, Apostle Island sea kayaking, whitewater rafting in northeast Wisconsin, canoeing on the Flambeau River, or Rock, Roll and Splash!

Camp Anokijig is accredited by the American Camp Association. For more information call the camp at 800-741-6931 or visit www.anokijig.com.
