Flex-Staff cites 40th anniversary

2013 marks the 40th anniversary of Flex-Staff, one of Wisconsin’s leading independent providers of supplemental and temporary staffing services.

The company known today as Flex-Staff got its start in 1973 when Bill and Carol Hackbarth purchased a franchise of Dunhill, a permanent placement company in Rockford, Ill.

In 1977 the Hackbarths purchased a second Dunhill franchise in Appleton, and in 1979 a temporary contractor franchise of Dunhill was added to the Appleton office. In 1980 the Rockford franchise was sold to a longtime employee so that full attention could be devoted to the growing Appleton market.

In 1986 the association with Dunhill was discontinued, and the company began servicing clients under the name Flex-Staff, which was chosen to represent the “flexible staffing” solutions that the company provides to its clients. At the end of 2005 Bill and Carol Hackbarth retired, selling the company to Bill’s son Mike Hackbarth and Carol’s son Steve Kamrowski, who currently manage all aspects of the business.

In the 40 years since its inception, Flex-Staff has expanded across Wisconsin with offices in Appleton, Chilton, Manitowoc, Fond du Lac, Stevens Point, and Eau Claire. Over the years they have helped thousands of Wisconsin businesses find the employees they needed to grow, and helped tens of thousands of people across the state find employment opportunities that fit their individual employment needs and career goals. Some of the human resource representatives, department heads, and supervisors at the client companies that they work with today got their start through Flex-Staff years ago. Flex-Staff offers a wide array of staffing services from providing employees for short and long-term temporary and temp to hire assignments, to direct placement, payroll service and employee leasing.

G&H Trucking & Excavating, Inc. is now installing drainage tile using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.

Recently the business added a tile plow with GPS technology to their list of equipment, used for installing farm drainage tile up to eight inches. The GPS technology also allows the tile to be mapped out for future reference. Other excavating services include

basement excavation, grading, bulldozing, driveways, site preparation, demolition, ditch cleaning, fence line removal, sewer and water lateral installation and perc tests. They also provide hydro-excavating and jetting services that include slot trenching, exposing utilities, clean sewer mains, vac out manure pits and sand settling lanes.

Owner Gerald Heus started the business in 1992 with a tractor backhoe and a single-axle dump truck. Since then, his two sons, Eric Heus and Neal Heus, along with daughter Tina Ziebell have joined the company to make it what it is today. They provide excavating and trucking services to the surrounding area.

“No matter the size of the project we will provide the highest quality service at a fair price,” Ziebell said. Visit the Web site at www.ghexcavating.comfor more information or to request a free quote.
